Title: There's a strike happening right now in colleges across Ontario
Post by: duddy on Oct 16, 2017
Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), which includes full-time and "partial-load" employees have walked-off the job starting Monday, October 16th.

The union has proposed increased salary wages, optimized staffing ratios, and more academic control over the current college administrators - among other things - yet the colleges have fallen short of these proposals.

This means that over 500,000 students across Ontario and nearly 12,000 faculty workers from 24 public colleges will be without a place to go during this time.

Instructors have been directed to not upload any new content online or communicate with their students as this is regarded to be a form of work. This has caused an outcry from students who fear they won't be able to graduate on time or complete their semester with the grade they were anticipating.

Which leads to my question, what's the best way for students to cope during this time? Kindly comment below or vote in the poll above.

it's very possible that it may take 3 weeks because if it goes to 4 weeks the provincial government would likely legislate them back to work.

I can see this being very frustrating to students, and even more so for adjunct profs who depend on their semester salary to survive. It's a bad situation no matter how you look at it
