Title: A&P Chicken Wing Lab
Post by: dgipson on Oct 26, 2011
Does anyone have the answers to:

Procedure:

1.  Place chicken wing in a tray.
2.  Carefully remove the skin from the muscle, noting the superficial fascia holding the skin onto the muscle.
3.  Locate the individual muscle groups on the two parts of the wing.  Insert dissecting pins under each group.
4.  Locate the ligament/tendons.  Insert dissecting pins into each one found.
5.  Separate the joint.  Locate the hyaline cartilage.  Strip the muscle from one bone and examine the diaphysis of the bone.

Answer the following questions

6.  How were the muscles attached to the bones?

7.  Describe the appearance of the hyaline cartilage.

8.  Were ligaments/tendons going from one bone to the next or were they only attached to one bone?

9.  Where was the periosteum and describe its appearance.

Thanks

6.  How were the muscles attached to the bones?

Tendons attach muscles to bones. If you think of it this way: People who have strains - pulled tendons. T- tendons...t... strains. People who have sprains pulled ligaments. Those ligaments attach bones together.

The white tendons connecting muscle and bone can be seen in several upper and lower wing muscle groups.
