Title: What is the significance of double fertilization?
Post by: lisa2 on Aug 12, 2013
During double fertilization, one sperm cell fertilizes the egg and produces the zygote (2n) while the second sperm cell fertilizes the polar nuclei to produce a triploid nuclei (3n) which will later become the endosperm.

Q: What is the significance of having this second fertilization (not the sperm and egg fusion)?
