Suppose a healthy person has a tidal volume of 650 ml , an anatomical dead space of 160ml, and a respiratory rate of 14 breaths per minute. Calculate the alveolar ventilation rate.

Use the following formula:

Alveolar ventilation = ventilation rate (breaths per minute) x (tidal volume – anatomical dead space volume)
