There is a shift for Canadians to access news information through various digital channels. Digital readership is up 40% since 2010 and now 4 in 10 Canadians access content via digital platforms. Furthermore, mobile readership in the top 18 markets has reached more than 1.7 million readers a day. The newspaper industry will need to adjust their advertising revenue model so that revenues from digital editions compensate for lost revenue on the hard copy side of the business.
