Why did the Chagossians find themselves stranded in Mauritius?

  A) The United States and British governments took control of their lands and evicted them from their homeland of Diego Garcia.
  B) The Chagossians had to seek employment in Mauritius and the United States controlled the shipping lanes and would not allow them to return home.
  C) Mauritius lured the Chagossians to their island as workers during the late 19th century and would not issue passports to allow them to return to their original homelands.
  D) Because of a series of destructive hurricanes and tsunamis, the Chagossians had to seek refuge in Mauritius; afterward, there were no funds for reconstruction.
  E) The Chagossians worked as migrant laborers for the United States military and were then evicted from their homeland of Madagascar and forced to live on Mauritius.
