How were Cynic philosophers accepted in Athens?
 
  A) The focus upon women was accepted in some circles but less so in Athens.
  B) The other philosophical schools at the time saw Cynics as a threat to their ideas and they were shut down quickly.
  C) They were well accepted within the city as many thought the school would become the preeminent school of philosophy during the Hellenistic period.
  D) They were scorned by conventionally minded people for their doglike existence.
  E) They were paid little attention and garnered no support or enemies.
