Title: Clouds that look like rainbows Written by: duddy on May 11, 2014 (https://biology-forums.com/gallery/47/4_11_05_14_10_53_39.jpeg) (https://biology-forums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=16174) 'Fire rainbows', also known as iridescent clouds, are a rare phenomenon that only occur when the Sun is higher than 58° above the horizon and its light passes through cirrus clouds made of ice crystals. At the right alignment, the ice crystals act as a prism, and refract the light to look like a rainbow. Comments: Beautiful encounter them couple time in late fall in Midwest USA... in a clear sky.
