Exp:
5d = 21

To solve this you would have to divide 21 by five which isn't gonna come out a whole number, it makes x=4.2
How do i change 4.2 into a fraction answer or something easier?

it would just be 21/5 (21 over 5) and u can't reduce it anymore. this is how i was taught.

Hannah is right, but if you are really annoyed by an answer like that, you could always take out numbers so you could have 4 and 1/5, but its all the same as 4.2 or 21/5.

This could be your answer  21/5  but it is improper.
To make it proper you can do this

How many 5's go into 21?

4!

so how much in left over? (21-20)

1

So then you just put that over your denominator and simplify.

4 and 1/5  (1/5 is already simplified)

21/5 is a legitimate answer just like zzz said

Unless specified go with 21/5. You could potentially make mistakes with converting it into a "proper" fraction or into a decimal (I mean different bigger numbers). As the denominator (5) has no common multiple/factor with the numerator (21) it cannot be simplified any further.
