I believe that the only way one can actually be nearsighted is to inherit two recessive alleles (for instance, nn). So I'm guessing that the couple in the top right is:

nn & Nn

   N   n
n Nn  nn
n Nn  nn

which forms: 1:1 Nn and nn.
