Liquids for topical use include instillations (as into the eye or ear) and irrigations (as in flushing out an ear canal). Liquids are administered orally (by mouth), parenterally (by some means other than the GI tract), or topically. Sublinguals are designed to be held under the tongue and absorbed through the oral mucosa.
