A licensed practical/vocational nurse has a cochlear implant and was instructed to not go inside or around magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

While working for an agency at a local hospital, the nurse was assigned a client on a telemetry monitor who developed neurological symptoms and needed an MRI. The telemetry unit required the nurse to stay with the client during diagnostic testing to monitor the electrocardiogram and provide emergency interventions, if needed. The best action the nurse should take is to:
  A) inform the charge nurse that he has a cochlear implant, and ask if there is someone that can stay with the client during the MRI.
  B) ask the MRI technician to turn off the magnetic field so he can accompany the client into the MRI, and where he can stay while the client is being tested.
  C) ask an unlicensed care provider to accompany the client to the MRI since he has a cochlear implant and cannot be around the MRI.
  D) ask the client's family to accompany the client into the MRI while he stays in the waiting room, so the nurse can accompany the client to the MRI.
