What did Supreme Court Justices Brennan and Marshall hold in their dissent in the 1972 case Furman v. Georgia?
a. The infliction of unnecessary pain is not inherently cruel.
b. The death penalty is acceptable only as applied to convicted murderers.
c. The death penalty was cruel and unusual in all circumstances.
d. Only individual states could decide whether to apply the death penalty.
The textbook I'm using is Corrections in America.
