A client is spending a great deal of time praying, chanting, and reading religious doctrine. He is reluctant to attend therapeutic groups as a result of his religious preoccupation. The best plan would be to:

  1. Allow the client a set amount of time each day to express his religion, with the understanding that he attend groups and adhere to the treatment program
  2. Inform the client that he can only express his religion with the chaplain and needs to follow the treatment program the rest of the time
  3. Tell the client he is being inappropriate and disruptive to others; then notify the client's physician to increase his medication as soon as possible
  4. Ignore the client's hyperreligiosity since it will diminish with medication therapy
