Culture and sensitivity testing of a patient's sputum sample indicated that his pneumonia could be treated with intravenous cefazolin.

This treatment was initiated 6 days ago and this morning the nurse's assessment reveals no adventitious lung sounds, a respiratory rate of 22 breaths/minute, oxygen saturation of 93 on room air, and an oral temperature of 98.4F. Based on the apparent resolution of the patient's respiratory infection, the nurse should recognize that
  A) the next scheduled dose of cefazolin should be withheld.
  B) the patient will require 8 to 10 days of continued treatment to prevent resistance or recurrence.
  C) the patient will continue treatment with cefazolin for 2 more days.
  D) the patient's antibiotic treatment will be discontinued after the next scheduled dose.
