What initiates the sneeze reflex?

  b. Irritation of the nasal mucosa by foreign particulate matter
  c. Stimulation of the tonsils

Sneezing is a physiologic reflex used by the body to clear the nasal passages of foreign matter. Stimulation of the vagus nerve, stimulation of the tonsils, and enervation of the olfactory cranial nerve are not what initiate the sneezing reflex.
