A vineyard has 145 acres of Chardonnay grapes. A particular soil supplement requires 5.50 grams for every square meter of vineyard. How many kilograms of the soil supplement are required for the entire vineyard? (1km^2 = 247 acres).

Please show steps for conversion. Thank-you!

1 km^2 = 1000m x 1000m = 1x10^6 m^2
(145 acres / 247 acres) x 1x10^6 m^2 = 5.87x10^5 m^2
5.5 g/m^2 x 5.87x10^5 m^2 = 3.23x10^6 g
3.23x10^6 g x 1kg/10000 g = 3.23x10^3 kg

1 km^2 = 247 acres

145 acres = 145/247 km^2 = 0.587044 km^2

= 0.587044 * 10^6 m^2

= 587044 m^2

1 m^2 ---> 5.5 grams

587044 m^2 ---> 5.5 * 587044 = 3228742 grams

= 3228.742 kgs of soil is required

Thanks for the help, 'emhen' and 'skip5284' but I finally figured it out.

145 ac  x  1 km^2/247 ac  x  10^6 m^2/1 km^2  x  1 cm^3/1 m^2  x  5.50 g/1 cm^3  x  1kg/1000g  = 3228.744939  =  3.23 x 10^3 kg
