As a physical geographer you look at a small scale map of a coastline. The coastline has several rias. What does this tell you and why?

Rias are drowned rivers. The presence of them indicates a coastline that has undergone submergence. This is prominent on the east coast of the United States and was caused by the melting of the continental ice sheets.
