 Several of the studies we have discussed in this chapter find few effects of landscape structure on some natural populations. Other species, however, respond very strongly to changes in landscape structure. What aspects of an organism’s life-history are likely to determine whether or not a species responds? What types of shifts in landscape structure are most likely to cause biological effects?
