In order to check for Chvostek’s sign, the nurse will:
1.   ask the patient to grimace and note if response is symmetrical.
2.   inflate a blood pressure cuff to systolic level and watch for carpopedal spasm.
3.   tap the face over the facial nerve and watch for a spasm of the facial muscle.
4.   check pupillary response to light and see if it accommodates and reacts.
