1. Fractures in this area may take longer to heal or can form calcification, causing incorrect placement of the bone.
2. Pain is individualized.
3. Children can learn how to adapt to the use of crutches and should be given time to practice prior to discharge.
4. Because of the rapid growth of a child, the healing process usually does not take as long as an adult.
