A nurse is reviewing the immunization schedule for a 9-month-old infant. The schedule notes that the child is due to receive the Rotarix vaccine today.

During the assessment, the mother tells the nurse that the child had surgery three weeks ago for intussusception. The nurse knows that: 1. The child should wait to get the vaccine because of the recent surgery.
   2. The child should not receive the vaccine because of the past history of intussusception.
   3. The child should be positioned so that the medication can be given orally.
   4. The child should receive the medication regardless of past history.
