A child has recently been diagnosed with aplastic anemia. Support for the family should include:

  1. Referrals to support groups and Social Services.
   2. Short-term support.
   3. Genetic counseling.
   4. Nutrition counseling.

Rationale:
1. Families require support in dealing with a child who has a life-threatening disease. They should be referred to support groups for counseling, and, if indicated, to Social Services.
2. The support will be long-term in nature, not short-term.
3. Aplastic anemia is not a genetically transmitted disease.
4. Nutrition counseling is not a priority, and might not be needed, with aplastic anemia.
