The difference between wings and borders is that:

  a. wings enclose the scene from above and borders enclose the scene on each side.
 b. wings are set parallel to the front of the stage in a series from front to back while borders are hung above each set of wings.
 c. wings replaced the front curtain, since there was no need for scene changes anymore, and borders enclosed the scene overhead.
 d. wings hang above the audience and borders hang above the stage.
