We are doing Western blots in lab and I have a protein with MW of 80,000 but I am having a hell of a time finding out what it is.  Is there a site that could help me?

Try this chart....looks like transferrin to me Slight Smile

Because this is my first post they wont let me post the link, but if you google "molecular weight 80000" and scroll down to the link that says "Table: Proteins used as molecular-weight standards" you will find the chart I'm referring to. Good luck Slight Smile

That's impossible to do. There are probably countless proteins that have that weight class, was any information given prior to conducting the experiment. Were you given a ladder of some sort to compare to?

Yes its a basic ladder which I have no idea how to post here but it wont help find out what protein it is.  When I asked my prof, I was told that I would have to look online.  That's why I'm wondering if there is a site I can go too.
