Guanidine is highly basic in nature because of the resonance stabilization of protonated guanidine. The resonance stabilization of a guanidine base is small because of the large charge separation. However, the conjugate acid of guanidine is highly stabilized due to charge delocalization. This makes guanidine highly basic.
