The common goldfish is the only animal that can see both infra-red and ultra-violet light. Goldfish are quite intelligent and will recognize the person who feeds them.They have been widely used as a model system for the study of color vision. Goldfish have four kinds of cone cells, which are respectively sensitive to different colors: red, green, blue and ultraviolet. The ability to distinguish between four different primary colors classifies them as tetrachromats.

Goldfish can see approx a foot away and they can see in colour as well. They do have pretty good memories too, I read somewhere that their memory span spans over three months.
