Alex has suffered a severe head trauma. He is rushed in to the emergency room and is immediately analyzed by a neurologist. Alex has all of his vital functions working properly (i.e. heart functions and respiration). The neurologist notices that Alex’s eye movements are very erratic and he has a very difficult time remembering where he is or the events that led to his injury. What parts of Alex’s brain were most likely damaged as a result of his injury and why?
