Step1 [ (18x)/(18x+164)]* 100 = 30.5 ; molar mass of water is 18 ;molar mass of Ca(NO3)2 x H2O= 18x+162

Step2 Divide both sides by 100

Step3 18x /18x+162 = .305

Step4 18x = 18x * .305 + 162x.305

Step5 18x(1-.305)= 162x.305 or x= 162 x.305/.695*18 or x=3.95 =4
