Heterozygote advantage occurs when the heterozygote genotype has greater fitness in that
environment. An individual who is heterozygous for sickle cell has an advantage in areas where
malaria is endemic because the heterozygote is more resistant to malarial infection than the individual
carrying two normal hemoglobin genes

Answer to q. 2

Gene flow can alter allelle frequencies in populations by introducing new genotypes to a population.
Natural selection alters allele frequencies of a population by increasing the frequency of adaptive traits
in the next generation.
Genetic drift can alter allele frequencies by randomly eliminating alleles from a population.
