Hey Jonas, Welcome.

If I recall correctly, protein kinases are enzyme (kinase enzymes) that modifies other proteins by chemically adding phosphate groups to them (phosphorylation).

The chemical activity of a kinase involves removing a phosphate group from ATP (becoming ADP) and covalently attaching it to one of three amino acids (Tyr, Ser, and Thr) that have a free hydroxyl group.
