Use the following information to answer the next four questions.
#25. Use the following information to answer the next four questions.
The zebra fish is a very popular aquarium pet fish that is known to be hardy, attractive, and able to survive well in groups.
*Wild type zebra fish have blue–purple horizontal stripes that run from gill to tail, with a silver–gold body.
An alternative form of the zebra fish results from a mutation that causes a homozygous recessive red-colour fish. *( see the images attached for these 2)*
If 32 of 84 zebra fish have the recessive phenotype of red colour, what is the frequency of the recessive allele in this population of fish?
Select one:
a. 0.79
b. 0.14
c. 0.62
d. 0.38
#26.What percentage of the population of zebra fish are heterozygous?
Select one:
a. 62%
b. 47%
c. 38%
d. 53%
#27.How many zebra fish are purebreeding for the blue–purple horizontal stripes?
Select one:
a. 72
b. 5
c. 52
d. 12
#28.If 15 years ago, 34 of 88 zebra fish had the red colour, has microevolution occurred? Why or why not?
Select one:
a.Yes The allele frequency has remained the same.
b.No The allele frequency has remained the same.
c.No The allele frequency has changed.
d.Yes The allele frequency has changed.
Sorry about posting 4 questions in 1 post. The information in #25 is used to answer 25-28. Will post the remaining questions of my assignment tomorrow afternoon.

Select one:
a. 0.79
b. 0.14
c. 0.62
d. 0.38
32 / 84 = 0.3809 = q^2 = sqrt ( 0.3809 ) ~
0.61

#26.What percentage of the population of zebra fish are heterozygous?
Select one:
a. 62%
b. 47%
c. 38%
d. 53%
p = 1 - 0.61 = 0.382
2 * q * p = 2 * 0.382 * 0.61 =
0.47

#27.How many zebra fish are purebreeding for the blue–purple horizontal stripes?
Select one:
a. 72
b. 5
c. 52
d. 12
p^2 = 0.382^2 = 0.1459 * 84 =
12

hi bio_man, i had the exact same answers for #25 and #26 but for #27 and #28 i had different answers. I had b for #27 and d for #28 because i didn't know how to do them so i did guess them i did google it but nothing was coming up. But after seeing how you did it. This makes a lot of sense now for @27 and #28. Thank you so much for helping me out with these questions. Have a great day
