What is sales mix? How do companies choose their sales mix?

 Sales mix is the quantities or proportion of various products or services that constitute a company's total unit sales. Managers adjust their mix to respond to demand changes. Assume there are two Products A and B. If there is a shift in production to Product A due to high demand, then this increases the breakeven point because the sales mix has shifted toward a lower-contribution-margin product and under no circumstances the manager should change the sales mix to lower the breakeven point without taking into account customer preferences and demand.
