ICD-10 diagnoses codes. The patient had surgery 2 weeks ago for appendicitis. the patient is now admitted because of fever, pain and redness at the operative site. There is evidence of cellulitis of the operative wound and cultures confirm Staphyloccus aureus as the cause. She recieved IV antibiotics. She also has type ll diabetes mellitus and is on oral antidiabetic medication.

Hi Karabear87

I believe 4 diagnosis codes are needed here. Diabetes (250.00), postoperative cellulitis / abscess (998.59), and the Staphylococcus aureus infection (041.11). Not certain about the last one. My only guesses so far are healed appendicitis-obliterative (542) or non-healing surgical wound (998.89). Face with Rolling Eyes
