In general, outcomes for individuals with deaf-blindness depend on all of the following EXCEPT

• The quality and intensity the person receives are critical.

• The vast majority of students who are deaf-blind have other disabilities and medical conditions.

• The more mild the visual and auditory impairments, the greater the impact on a person's ability to adapt.

• The degree and type of visual impairment and auditory impairment can vary dramatically in individuals with deaf-blindness.
