Research on students with disabilities who are also gifted indicates all of the following EXCEPT

• their IEPs tend to identify objectives that target deficit
areas not areas of strength.

• there is often a lack of consideration of Advanced Placement (AP) enrollment as part of transition planning.

• students often do not receive their required IEP accommodations or are discouraged from requesting them.

• advocacy by students' parents often backfires and harms rather than helps the students receive the support they need.
