Oxymetazoline is contraindicated in patients with severe hypertension or coronary artery disease because of its cardiac stimulating and vasoconstricting effects. Oxymetazoline is prescribed for nasal congestion. Oxymetazoline is not contraindicated in cough or skin rash.
