Decreased blood flow to the kidney results in ischemia in the nephrons, and decreased oxygen delivery to the nephrons. The body will desperately fight to get blood pressure back to normal, causing widespread vasoconstriction. The afferent arterioles get smaller and smaller, decreasing blood supply to the nephrons. Eventually the kidneys will be damaged and kidney failure will result.
