Neither. Birth marks are caused by flaws in fetal development, they occur randomly

My Son has a small mole just below his left ear.

Does it mean it is not inherited from myself or
my wife?

Even if I or my wife do not have birthmarks - mole, My son can have Birthmarks - mole?

Thanks & Regards,

The occurrence of birthmarks may be inherited. Some marks may be similar to marks on other family members, but generally most are not.

So to answer your question, the likelihood of your son acquiring the same marks as you and your wife is low.

Thanks.

The probability of Birthmarks genetic material
passing on to offspring from Biological parents is less as you mentioned.
