Not my opinion, but here's an interesting take:

DETERMINISM is what dictates our future. Everything we do is dictated by our biology, namely our genetics that cannot be altered. Our genes have been inherited over millions of generations — our bodies physically carry information about how to best survive in the world and leave offspring behind. Our genes determine our choices by dictating our behavior, overruling what is taught to us by those who have nurtured us. The idea of FREE-WILL sounds enticing to us because we want to believe we have control over our actions, but our decisions are largely controlled by impulses that originate from neurons that release neurotransmitters, of which are carefully balanced based on the genes we've inherited. Denying DETERMINISM is as unnatural as thinking there's a possibility that the genetic makeup of a child whose parents are of the same race will show complete phenotypic variation from his/her parents. We all know that the offspring always takes after the parent and are not FREE to choose their physical appearance. The same principal/idea can be applied here.
