(a) substitute 3800 into the function:

C(q) = 5.4q + 58000
C(3800) = 5.4(3800) + 58000
= 78520

(b) Set q = 3801
C(3801) = 5.4(3801) + 58000
= 78525.40

The cost is the slope: $5.40
