The idea of neoliberalism captured many of the economic reforms of the period. What is neoliberalism? How did it impact governmental policy and subsequent action? Who did it benefit and who was negatively impacted? What is the status of neoliberalism policy today?

Classical liberalism is the basis of conservative thinking. Neoliberalism was a reinstatement of many of these principles. They sought to reduce social benefits and deregulate industry. These policies were punitive to the needy and these policies did not prove to support that democratic approaches were job killers. The Great Recession as largely the result of neoliberal policies.
