At age three months, an infant shows great contentment when being held by his grandmother, who lives in another city. Four months later, however, the infant shows much anxiety when being held by her. When the infant's parents go out for the evening, the grandmother has great difficulty calming and consoling him. How can this change in this infant's relationship with his grandmother be explained? What would you recommend to this grandmother to address the problem?
