1. What is the role of nationality and culture in defining Buddhism?

When we think of Buddhism, we usually associate the religion with East Asia. This is because a lot of Asian culture, policies, and traditions are intertwined with the religion. For example, Mount Koya is the center of Shingon Buddhism, where figures of Buddha are carved into their mountains, along with holy temples. The appearance of Buddha figures throughout Southeast Asia are the best manifestation of the spread of the religion.
