Here's what the article is about:

In the past couple of years, China stopped accepting recyclables from the United States. This has prompted several states around the country to enact new laws and policies that would reduce waste and contaminants found in recycling products. One proposal is to reuse 75% of single-use plastics by 2030 and to reduce the amount of plastic per bottle.

Restrictions from China have also prompted cities and states to stop accepting certain plastics and increase incineration. The idea is that less contamination in recycling systems will make the end-product more clean and valuable. This can only happen if the awareness increases across the nation. Massachusetts, for example, recently spend millions of dollars to launch a statewide education initiative.
