A performance-based measures system is a database that is shared between various correctional systems and enables prison administrators to collect, store, and assess institution-specific data. Through the operation of such a system, corrections managers may evaluate progress through the application of performance-based measures related to areas such as education, justice, institutional safety, mental health, physical health, substance abuse, and public safety. By maintaining a unified database that is shared between correctional facilities, administrators are also able to compare data, review relative rank, and assess performance in context.
