It is very much possible that Maurice 1, Count of Oldenburg was adopted.

"Tata" is a global renowed brand.

It would be interesting to trace the ancestors/forefathers of "Tata".

I mean I can't find it here: http://www.tatacentralarchives.com/tata-legacy/family-tree.html

I can think of 2 reasons why we don't know much beyond that, either 1) we don't have verifiable proof of who his forefathers were or 2) we haven't researched beyond that generation.

Interesting, Wikipedia has the following excerpt:

Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata was born to Nusserwanji and Jeevanbai Tata on 3 March 1839 in Navsari, a city in the south Gujarat. Jamsetji Tata and his family were a part of the minority group of Zoroastrians, or Parsees, who came to India from fleeing the persecution of Zoroastrians by muslims in Iran. He was born in a respectable, but poor family of priests. His father, Nusserwanji, was the first businessman in a family of Parsi Zoroastrian priests. He broke the tradition to become the first member of the family to start a business. He started an export trading firm in Mumbai. Unlike other Zoroastrians, Jamsetji Tata had a formal Western education because his parents saw that he was gifted with special mental arithmetic from a young age. However, in order for him to have a more modern education, he was later sent to Bombay.

A third guess might be that his parents were immigrants, and in the process of moving to India, their family history was left behind in Iran.

Thanks.

As you correctly mentioned, "JAMSHEED"' s family were immigrants to India from Iran,
One can investigate further by visiting the country Iran.

but they weren't prominent members of Iranian society then. It was in the 1800s, and Zoroastrians were a minority, so likely they were persecuted for their beliefs. Who knows, it remains a mystery
