This sequence has a common difference of 8, which is an indicator that it's an arthimetic progression.

an = a1  + (n-1)d
an = 9 + (n-1)8

To get term 9, sub 9 into n

an = 9 + (9-1)8 = 73

1: 9
2: 17
3: 25
4: 33
5: 41
6: 49
7: 57
8: 65
9: 73

Should be 73

one of the options were a) tn= 8n+1 and t9=73, so that would be the overall answer?

Any choice that has t9 = 73 is right

You should always include the options as well
