Advantages:



Metric is easy to use and lends itself well to mathematical calculations.



Matches the measurement system used in most other countries.



Global trade



Would eliminate the dual system of weights and measurements currently in use.
 


Disadvantages:



Need to address current infrastructures in United States - road signs, recipe cookbooks, etc.



Existing equipment in business and homes that is in U.S. Standard measurements will need to be changed.
