Do you feel there will be variations in the Basketball game, if the standard Basketball ground dimensions - length * width (Area) are increased?

I mean any impact on the Basketball game in terms of player positions, strategies etc?

Thanks & Regards,

This would not work. Basketballs are relatively heavy to throw accurately from distances greater than what's already outside the 2-point range. Not an idea worth entertaining, because unlike football, which utilizes your legs -- stronger, bigger muscles -- basketball utilizes your arms.

Thank you.

If the Basketball is heavy in weight to throw from a longer distance since the width is increased, then it will be difficult to throw the basketball from a longer distance as you correctly pointed.

So just increasing the length and not the width of the rectangular basketball court?

If the perimeters from where constitutes a 3 pointer doesn't change, then increasing either dimension will change nothing. It'll just introduce a whole lot of extra space that probably won't get used, or will be used to create different strategies to scoring

Thanks.

There are 4 permutations and combinations for length and breadth (width) for the rectangular basketball court.

No Length        Breadth

1   Increased    Keep as it is
2  Keep as it is Increased
3  Increased    Increased
4  Keep as it is Keep as it is

Note : 4th - Keep as it is will be
increasing neither the length and breadth which is the current standard basketball rectangular court dimensions.
